Description of Unit of Study: In this unit, students will learn research skills, proper internet use, and how to create and use multimedia effectively. Students will also be exposed to kid-friendly Microsoft Word and PowerPoint tutorials. Students will demonstrate this new knowledge by developing a State Report Project that consists of several smaller individual assignments that culminate in a comprehensive multimedia presentation.
Overall Goals: While learning about states and their capitals, students will learn research and technology skills. While learning information about a state, they will learn new skills and refine old skills on Microsoft Word. In addition they will learn about the powerful multimedia program called PowerPoint. They will then be required to demonstrate their understanding by creating a multimedia presentation.
